"What is Love" centers around two close families with sharply contrasting values. One consists of medical resident Lee Dae Bal, his mother and father and his younger sister Sung Shil and is conservative and patriarchic, the other consists of college student Park Ji Eun, her siblings Jung Eun and Jung Sup, her two maternal aunts and her parents. They are progressive, modern and utilitarian. This drama comically portrays the troubles that arise as these two families become quarrelsome in-laws by Ji Eun and Dae Bal's marriage and the conflicts that arise between Ji Eun and her in-laws, delivering a message about the importance of balancing traditional and progressive values.

Teruko is a 28-year-old office worker. 5 months ago, she fell in love with Mamoru at first sight. Since that time, she has not cared about her work or her friends. She then loses her job and her friends look at her coldly. Yet, Teruko is happy as long as she is with Mamoru. Meanwhile, Mamoru thinks Teruko is an easy woman for him to not love. Teruko's unrequited love grows deeper.

It's Valentine's Day and Tom has big plans. He's about to get engaged and has a surprise party planned to share the good news with friends. But things take a turn for the worse. Tom returns home only to discover his girlfriend has packed up and left him. Now, instead of a surprise party, the surprise is on Tom. Fortunately, his friends are there to help him make sense of it all.
